Set during the current Intifada, the
complex political issue of Palestinian refugees gets a vivid
presentation through the personal stories of four Palestinian
families living in Dheisheh Refugee Camp near Bethlehem. An
in-depth portrait of daily life spanning three generations,
the film follows Fadi, a 13-year-old who cares for his four
younger brothers; the Hammashes, a close-knit clan who pass
on the lessons of life with sensitivity and passion; Sana,
a single woman who endures long commutes to do community work,
and Emad and Hanan, a young couple trying to shield their
daughter from the harsh realities of the occupation. Impressively
articulate, Abbourahme’s subjects talk about their past
and discuss the future with humor, sorrow, frustration and
hope.
