THE TRAMP AND THE DICTATOR
Original language title: [same]

Country of production: UK, Germany
Year: 2001

55 mins.

Charlie Chaplin and Adolf Hitler had more than their moustaches in common. They were born the same month, they had somewhat similar childhoods, they both planned to be artists... This remarkable documentary explores these and many other ironies in the two men's lives, while offering a new perspective on THE GREAT DICTATOR, the satire Chaplin made about Hitler at the dawn of World War II. THE TRAMP AND THE DICTATOR further uses newly discovered behind-the-scenes footage, plus interviews with Chaplin's son, collaborators, friends, and others.
