Sheriff Ronald E. Hewett oversees the small rural community of Brunswick County, North Carolina. The film follows his pursuit of cold-blooded killers, escaped bank robbers, illegal video poker rings, and stolen ceramic bunnies.

Beginning with a tour de force sequence introducing us to Sheriff Hewett in full crisis mode, then tracks him through his many adventures, revealing his sensitivity and leadership as well as his ambition and capricousness. Suspenseful and quirky, SHERIFF is touching and a lot of fun.


Daniel Kraus is a Chicago-based writer and filmmaker. He has previously directed JEFFTOWNE and BALL OF WAX (the latter about baseball). He is a frequent contributor to Playboy, Salon.com and Maxim, and is the winner of two television AP Awards.
