THE
ROYAL WEDDING TAPES Country of
production: Netherlands A deluxe version of that classic amateur genre: the wedding movie. THE ROYAL WEDDING TAPES depicts the 2002 wedding of Dutch Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and Maxima Zorreguieta, his Argentinean bride. Editor Eugenie Jansen compiled footage from more than 120 non-professional photographers who shot their own experiences on that day. Such official moments as the couple emerging from the palace, the royal procession, the exchange of vows, and the public kiss are witnessed from a panoply of perspectives - as are anti-monarchy protests, a policeman passing out, and demonstrations making visible the case of the Argentinean desaparacidos. THE ROYAL WEDDING TAPES is a unique and exquisite work, simultaneously a celebration of a country and its government, a city symphony of Amsterdam, and a wedding album for the ages. Director:
