Sam Huntley’s stylistically innovative Polish Your Shoes tells the touching story of the grandfather he never knew through the eyes of each of his children. The film cuts between six elderly London-born brothers and sisters, each recalling their father from a different perspective. They describe a social, good-natured man, an incorrigible gambler and Cockney dandy, who believed the essence of being well-turned out was to polish one’s shoes. Best experimental short, 2004 Melbourne Film Festival. Best International Short, 2004 Cork International Film Festival, Audience Award, 2004 Big Issue Film Festival.


Sam Huntley was born in 1979. He graduated from the BA [HONS] Graphic Design course at the University of Brighton in 2002. POLISH YOUR SHOES is his first short film .
