This captivating portrait of photographer
Edward Weston (1886 – 1958), narrated by his grandson,
follows his life from a well-established studio in Los Angeles,
through his sojourn in Mexico with his beloved Tina Modotti,
where he photographs artists and revolutionaries, to 20 years
spent in a cabin overlooking the Pacific. His lifelong photographic
fascination with female nudes, transformed over time into
the effort to find a purely abstract form in which he approximated
the curves of a woman’s body using the folds of seashells,
coastal cliffs and bell peppers.
Sabine
Pollmeier studied Art History and Dramatics in Munich, followed
by graduate course in Documentary Filmmaking and Television
Journalism.
Joachim
Haupt studied Modern German Literature, Modern History and
Sociology in Mainz, Geneva and Munich. In 1993, he had his
directorial with a documentary on underground techno scene
in Berlin.
