MAYA
PLISETSKAYA ASSOLUTA Country
of production: France For fifty years, the name of Maya Plisetskaya was inseparable from the history of Soviet ballet and the prestigious Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. After performing all the classical repertory, she broke out of the straitjacket of academic ballet to work with contemporary choreographers. She started a second career when most ballerinas retire. At the same time, she choreographed several pieces based on pieces of Russian literature, and acted in Soviet cinema. But she was also a resistance fighter, battling the regime that considered her "the daughter of an enemy of the people." This film is a critical encounter with an artist who is now being rediscoverd by a new generation - a portrait of a complex and fascinating woman. Director:
Elisabeth Kapnist Elisabeth Kapnist has directed several documentaries broadcast on French television (ARTE, Canal Plus, France 3, etc.), including works about Mikhail Gorbachev, Jacques Lacan, Vaclav Njinsky, Sigmund Freud, and others. She has also directed four short fiction films. Sunday,
