Fresh from its premiere at the Berlin Film Festival, Lost Children brings audiences powerfully to the heart of one of Africa’s worst humanitarian crises. It follows four youngsters from northern Uganda, aged between eight and 15 years, who were abducted and forced to kill by the rebel movement the Lord’s Resistance Amy. Their uneasy return to families, homes and villages is facilitated by the rehabilitation center of the Caritas. The task of the social workers is staggering. Most kidnapped children never return alive. Either the rebels or the government kills them. None of them wanted to do what they were forced to do. But all their lives they will bear the stigma of being a killer and will also remember the atrocities they caused and fear being re-abducted and murdered. Will they ever forget? Will they be forgiven? Is it possible for them to resume their childhood after being a soldier?

Ali Samadi Ahadi was born in Tabriz, Iran in 1972. He took his final school examinations in Hanover, Germany where he also studied sociology and electronic media design followed by film in Kassel. He has been working as an independent director and editor since 2000.
