ANDREAS
HORVATH [Austria]
Andreas Horvath was born in 1968 in Salzburg, Austria. He
is a photographer and filmmaker. In 1993, he published a photo
book on the American Midwest. His book on Yacutia, Siberia
was published in 2003 (available in the States at Antique
Collectors’ Club). He made a number of documentaries
including “The Silence of Green” (2002) and “This
Ain’t No Heartland” (2004) for which he has won
various international awards. He won the Chicago Doc Grand
Prix in 2004.
KAREL
OCH [Czech Republic]
Karel Och was born in 1974 in the Czech Republic. He studied
Law, and graduated in Film History and Theory from the Charles
University in Prague. Since 2001 has been working for the
Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic
as a member of the official festival’s selection committee
and programmer of the documentary competition. He is a member
of the Czech FIPRESCI section and publishes for numerous magazines
including Vinepur, Illuminace and Respekt.
RUSSELL
PORTER [Australia]
Russell Porter has worked extensively in film and television
– primarily in documentary – for over thirty years
as a scriptwriter, director, script editor, producer, executive
producer and institutional manager. He has over a hundred
film and TV credits, and several Australian and international
awards. He also has extensive international experience and
recognition as a film teacher at major film schools in the
USA, Australia, Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, Argentina and Spain.
From 2000 to 2004 Coordinator/Director of Documentary Program
in Film & Video Department, Columbia College Chicago.
In 2003-2004 Founder/Director of International Student Documentary
Competition, the world’s first student festival exclusively
devoted to a documentary genre.
