IT'S
BEEN A LOVELY DAY Country
of production: Netherlands "A riveting study in the purest documentary filmmaking tradition..." (VARIETY) Festivals included: Rotterdam, Amsterdam documentary, New York, Goteborg, Sydney IT'S BEEN A LOVELY DAY is a rich portrait of a traditional Dutch farmer's family, made by their son. The documentary focuses on the last year of the parents' work on the farm, which has passed from generation to generation for more than a century. Now, they will retire without a successor. The film begins at 6.A.M., January 1, 1992. It ends twelve months later. In between, we witness the last harvest, the choreography of a farmer moving over the land, the overwhelming silence... The film observes with little verbal comment but in outspoken style how a traditional way of life is disappearing from Europe. Producer:
