International Student Documentary Competition
The International Student Documentary Competition (ISDC) is
the first competition dedicated solely to student documentary
work. Founded in 2003 by Russell Porter, the mission of the
competition is to find and applaud new emerging voices in
documentary filmmaking. This grand initiative has been primarily
sponsored by Columbia College Chicago with generous support
from Focal Press and Home Vision Entertainment. In 2005 the
ISDC has formed a new collaboration with the Chicago International
Documentary Festival. Starting this year the ISDC winning
films will be presented at every CIDF edition as a special
program. One of the awarded student filmmakers will be invited
to participate in the festival.
In
2004 the ISDC selected winning films from 66 entrees from
36 film schools in 13 countries. The upcoming ISDC edition
will accept submissions until September 6, 2005.
The winners will be announced at the special awards gala in
November 2005.
