GABRIEL OROZCO
Original language title: [same]

Country of production: Mexico
Year: 2002
Language: Spanish
80 mins.

A vivid portrait of a compelling artist. Gabriel Orozco is a Mexican conceptual artist successful the world over, but barely known at home - as even a Mexican senator observes in this film. Still, Orozco thinks of himself as representing Mexico - a new Mexico that has nothing to do with folklore or the ruling class. Filmmaker Juan Carlos Martin follows Orozco from Paris across several countries where his work is exhibited, including the USA, Brazil, France, and Germany. He films Orozco in his studio, in the street, and, intoxicated, on the beach. The film simultaneously depicts these travels and Orozco's conceptual work itself.
