GABRIEL
OROZCO Country of
production: Mexico A vivid portrait of a compelling artist. Gabriel Orozco is a Mexican conceptual artist successful the world over, but barely known at home - as even a Mexican senator observes in this film. Still, Orozco thinks of himself as representing Mexico - a new Mexico that has nothing to do with folklore or the ruling class. Filmmaker Juan Carlos Martin follows Orozco from Paris across several countries where his work is exhibited, including the USA, Brazil, France, and Germany. He films Orozco in his studio, in the street, and, intoxicated, on the beach. The film simultaneously depicts these travels and Orozco's conceptual work itself. Director:
Juan Carlos Martin Juan Carlos
Martin graduated from the Centro de Capacitacion Cinematografica, and
has assistant directed several short and feature films. He is also a
renowned director of commercials and music videos, and has received
awards for best productions in those categories.
