This is the first documentary to be entirely shot with the video function of a cell phone. Ed Lachman, cameraman on films like Far From Heaven and co-director of Ken Park, made four ultra-short films in which people tell tall tales about their cell phones. The image is divided into six segments that chop up the narrator and visualize the story. In “Bear,” a man remembers a picnic where he was attacked by a bear. He was saved by his ringing phone, which scared the bear to such an extent that he ran off. In “Taxi,” a woman tells that she once left her phone in a New York cab and dialed her own number when she got home. The man who answered has been her lover for months now. “OTB” introduces a man who was betrayed by his cell phone. While he was gambling at the horse track on work time, his phone accidentally called his boss, who then heard his employee shouting from the stands. In ”Dog,” a boy recounts how the neighbors' Rottweiler aimed for his leg, but instead bit the pocket with his cell phone.

Edward Lachman has worked extensively in feature motion pictures, documentaries and commercials as both a cinematographer and director. In commercials he has received the Cannes Gold Lion for the Levis and Diesel Jeans campaigns, The prestigious British Art Directors award for Mazda, Artisan. Palmers and Diesel. Clio’s for Toyota, DKNY and Volkswagen. He recently directed Harmony Korine’s script “Ken Park”.
He has photographed an impressive and extensive collection of film, including Sophia Coppola’s directorial debut “Virgin Suicides”, Steven Soderberg’s award winning “The Limey” and the Academy Award Nominated ”Erin Brockovich”. For David Byrne’s “True Stories” and Paul Schrader’s “Light Sleeper” he received IFP Awards for Best Cinematography. For Todd Haynes “Far from Heaven”Academy Award Nomination, ASC, an IFP Award for Best Cinematography, Venice Film Festival – Outstanding Individual Contribution, Camerimage – International Award for Best Cinematography – and the National Film Critics Award, along with the individual New York, Boston, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles Critic’s Awards.
