AMERICA CROSSING
Original language title: [same]

Country of production: USA
Year: 2001
Language: English
28 mins.

Far from the smoldering ruins of the World Trade Center, a train makes its way across the heartland. On that train, filmmaker Jennifer Gilomen documents a handful of Americans' thoughts on September 11 and its many contexts. Their words are frequently counterpointed by remarkable landscapes shot out the train window. This "train diary" also excerpts items from governmental talking heads and archival footage, framing them in a context that provokes and poses more questions than it answers. Risky yet also modest and sensitive, AMERICA CROSSING is a wonderful work.
