Award-winning guitarist Nguyen Duc Dat was a triple outcast: blind, Amerasian, and orphaned. amaurosis explores his time living on the streets, selling lottery tickets for money, emigrating from Viet Nam to America, and establishing himself as a guitar virtuoso. This is a touching portrait of a very talented man.

Tran, T. Kim-Trang was born in Viet Nam and emigrated to the United States in 1975. She received a degree from the California Institute of the Arts and has been producing videos since the early 1990s. Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, and elsewhere. amaurosis is part of an eight-tape series investigating blindness and its metaphors. Tran was a 2001 Rockefeller Fellow.
