Before he became an astronaut, Story Musgrave
was a mathematician, a chemist at Kodak, a trauma surgeon, a pilot,
an experimental parachutist, and later a poet and student of literature.
He had a longer career as an astronaut than anyone else, having flown
into space more often than anyone else: six times. He went on his last
mission in 1996, at age sixty-one, conducting several space walks. He
is also a father of six children.
What made this man start out
on such a journey? What fueled his strength, his curiosity, his drive?
What did he look for in space? What did he find there? Here, an astronaut
powerfully speaks out: about how space changes man, about how a man
with such incomparable experience lives when back on Earth.
Has Story Musgrave found his place? Can he ever find it again, after
he has cut his roots so radically - in space, and in his tragic personal
story. Stylistically provocative - filmed by Hungarian photographer
Francisco Gozon - this rare and unique psychological essay offers the
viewer a spectacular and fascinating character. This is a personal account
of cosmic storms of feeling, and adventures in perception.
Dana Ranga was born in Bucharest, Romania, in 1964.
She completed her studies in Theory of Film, Semiotics and History of
Art with a master's thesis on socialist musical films. EAST SIDE STORY,
a film about socialist musicals, which screened at Sundance, Edinburgh,
Amsterdam, Berlin, and far beyond, then achieved a strong release throughout
Europe, North America, Brazil, and Australia.
