As a little girl,
Tina Gharavi was sent out of her native Iran. Now, some twenty years
later, she goes back to meet her mother face to face, and to address
the situation from up close.
They have a lot to talk about, of course. There are so many family and
personal stories to tell, and many pleasantries to go through. However,
there are also some tough questions: Was Tina sent away because of political
and economic difficulties in post-Revolutionary Iran? Or did her mother
see Tina as weighty baggage better to be rid of? Through extensive conversations
- as well as dramatic reenactments - the truth takes shape.
Meanwhile, Tina has some other news for
her mother, relating to Tina's own sexual identity. How will her mother
handle that weighty issue?
Tina Gharavi
