of production: Mexico Get up and dance! Cha cha cha music swept the pop music world in the 1950s, and is still going strong today. Cha cha cha is closely associated with the Cuban Orquestra America, whose composers established the genre. Here we meet with Ninon Mondejar, founder of the Orquestra, who is still very alive and active today. He talks about how the music and the dance associated with it emerged, even explaining the origin of the term "cha cha cha!" Director:
Jill Hartley Jill Hartley was born in Los Angeles, California in 1950. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle with a degree in plastic and graphic arts, then completed a year in the master's program in ethnographic filmmaking at the same institution. She has been a professional photographer since 1978, with work published and exhibited widely.
