50 YEARS OF CHA CHA CHA
Original language title: 50 ANOS DEL CHACHACHA

Country of production: Mexico
Year: 2002
Language: Spanish
28 mins.

Get up and dance! Cha cha cha music swept the pop music world in the 1950s, and is still going strong today. Cha cha cha is closely associated with the Cuban Orquestra America, whose composers established the genre. Here we meet with Ninon Mondejar, founder of the Orquestra, who is still very alive and active today. He talks about how the music and the dance associated with it emerged, even explaining the origin of the term "cha cha cha!"
