My Eyes
16-year-old
Katja's and 8-year-old Cathrine’s unique sense relationship
to music and nature is the inspiration for this intimate and
poetic film. Both blind, the girls have worked to develop
a heightened sense of touch and hearing, which affords them
a special insight into the world around them. Here, filmmaker
Erlend E. Mo gives audiences a glimpse into Katja and Cathrine’s
intense environment by exploring how their surroundings feel
and sound to them. The result is a moving meditation on the
senses that will leave viewers with a fresh perspective on
the simple pleasures most of us take for granted such as listening
to Beethoven or touching snow.
Erlend
E. Mo studied literature and Scandinavian languages
at the Oslo University and Film and TV at Volda University
College. He has produced and directed programs for NRK’s
and DR’s Children and Youth Departments. His documentaries
have won numerous awards including the Terje Vigen prize and
the IDFA Silver Club award. His film Can You Die In Heaven?
was voted Best Documentary by the youth juries at the Odense
Film Festival and at the Parnu International Documentary Film
Festival.
