Life as a Corporate Holiday

This quirky and delightful film follows Silvano Bignozzi and Lino Toselli, two unlikely traveling companions, who in the last 25-year have shared a hotel room in some of the world’s most exotic locations. Both local Bolognese salesmen, the oddball couple has been working for the same company for the last 30 years selling grapa, spumante and chamomile tea to local bars and restaurants. Each year they try to one up each other in order to win their company’s snazzy incentive prize: an all inclusive vacation to an exotic and remote destination. For the last 25 years Bignozzi and Toselli have walked away with the honors and have got to visit Australia, China, Mexico and Paris – they sometimes even get to take their wives! This year the prize trip is Cuba and both gentlemen are determined to go. Not only will it mark their 26th trip together, but since both are approaching retirement, it may very well be their last hoorah. Told with a twinge of irony by the filmmaker who has accompanied these unlikely friends during the last 15 years, this winning doc provides some interesting insights into the phenomenon of the company vacation as well as a look into an unlikely friendship.

Paolo Muran was born in Bologna, Italy and lived there all his life. Director, cinematographer, editor. He has worked for a number of years with the Bologna videofilm production companyPierrot e la Rosa, where he is in charge of documentaries.
