Grace Kelly, Destiny of a Princess

On September 14, 1982 Patrick Jeudy happened to be in a New York cab when he heard the news of Grace Kelly’s untimely death on the radio. This warm film is his tribute to the Hollywood starlet turned Monaco Monarch following the 50 year anniversary of the "Wedding of the Century," namely Kelly’s to Rainier III, Prince of Monaco. Set almost entirely within the period of May 1955 to May 1956, the story focuses on Kelly’s movie like romance and dream wedding as recounted by Jinks, a 1950’s reporter and acquaintance of Kelly’s. With her keen reporter's eye, Jinks leads audiences through Kelly’s rise to Hollywood stardom, her Oscar win and, of course, her relationship to the Prince of Monaco. On more than one occasion, Jinks questions the love between the two, who despite their numerous years together never kissed in public or held hands, she also delves into Kelly's childhood with an over-bearing father as well as her motivation to leave Hollywood behind. Still, despite the media hype, Destiny Of A Princess, provides a unique glimpse - chalk-full of stunning archived material - into the life of a rare and mysterious beauty.

Patrick Jeudy, Director, writer and producer for the French company Pont du Jour. He has been working as a director since 1977.
