Dream Havana
In
August 1994, more than 33,000 Cubans attempted to escape the
island by sea. Two writers, friends since adolescence, are
faced with a choice-continue struggling with the hardships
of the island or brave the open water on a homemade raft.
Ernesto Santana chooses Cuba, Jorge Mota chooses sea. This
is the story of their struggles, their successes and the friendship
that binds them. Filmed on location in Cuba, the U.S. and
Mexico.
Gary
Marks was born in Chicago. He was a successful antique
dealer here for many years. But in 1996 he decidet to return
to his first love which was music. That decision brought him
to Cuba where he had the great good fortune to begin studying
again with a wonderful teacher in Havana. From that experience
and the people he met, the idea for his film arose.
